Saturday 10/24 - Volleyball Pickup (Intermediate) - Ocean Beach Volleyball Courts 12:00pm

These self-reffed matches are the best way to practice your volleyball skills and meet fellow fans of the sport! We have capacity for at least two teams per court so you can enjoy any of our formats to fullest. Our hosts on site are there to help if you need guidance, but this is a 4v4 coed pickup. 

Feel free to arrive anytime between 12:00-12:30pm. Open Plays have extended capacities and are formatted to maximize rotational play and socializing! Be prepared to play on multiple courts with and against different players! If able, we will designate skill levels to specific courts. Find your staff onsite to get more information!

Basic Rules & Formats

• This pickup is intended to be 4v4 coed 

• Subs rotate in at the serving position

• King/Queen of the Court

  • 2+ courts of Round Robin play 

  • 15 min time limit per set

  • Winners move towards King court and keep playing

  • Losing teams stay at the court where they lost but don’t necessarily play back to back games

Volleyball Skill Levels: 

• Beg/social level (C) - This level is for players with no prior experience playing the sport and players still learning the basics. It’s best for players who want to improve and try a new sport, for anyone looking to make friends, and are primarily there to have fun!

• Intermediate level (B) - This level is for players who have played before and are seeking a little more competition. Players at this level have a good understanding of the rules/rotations and have the basic skills down. 

• Upper Intermediate (BB) - This level is for players who can consistently execute serving, receiving, setting and hitting at a high level and will usually get 3 touches per play. The difference between these players and the adv/comp (A) players is that they are still learning offensive/defensive strategies and positions. These players likely played in high school.

• Adv/Comp (A) - This level is for players looking for a competitive game. This level is only meant for players who have experience playing this sport and are looking for the highest level of play. Players playing at this level likely played at the varsity high school, college, or club level, or consistently play well and are ready to level up from another division. 

• All levels - This level welcomes all skill levels and gives players opportunities to grow skills together at mixed level.

Note: Should there be a change to the pickup (ie venue closure), players will be notified on whether the program will run at least 90 minutes prior to the start of the program via email, but we will let you know as soon as we know and try to recommend other options if available.

Arrive Early for Check-In

Arrive up to 10 minutes before your game time for check-in. Each individual is required to scan their QR code in the app before every game.

QR Code Scan: Players are required to download the Volo App and present the QR code associated with their league to the host on site. Already have the Volo App? Make sure you have updated to the latest version. Download now for iOS or Android.
