The Gist
Pickup: This self-reffed open play is the best way to practice your pickleball skills and meet fellow fans of the sport! These pickups tend to be 90 minutes on 1 court perfect for our Split n Stay format, where the winning team splits up and takes a new partner from off the court. This rotation helps level set players with different skillsets. Games are first to 11 points
Split n Stay Open Play: After players finish their match, the winning team must split and the next two new players come on. Individuals can stay on the court for 2 games max - if you win twice, you’re off and 3 new players would hop on the court that round! Games are first to 11 points
Play to 11; win by two
Team that wins stays on the court but splits
Winning players become opponents and take a new partner from the line
Winners can only stay on for 2 games max. As a result, Some rounds require 3 new players to join the court
Basic Rules & Formats
Score starts 0-0-2 (last number indicates the server)
Serving
Teams can only score when they are serving
You cannot serve into the kitchen
The serving team cannot volley (hit the ball out of the air) on the first return
Traditional scoring
Play to 11 or 15 min depending on the format
Games are win by 2 if there’s time
