What’s a drop-in?
Drop-ins play on a league team for a single game. All the fun, no season-long commitment.
- Playing time: Plan on about half the game, though it can vary.
- Bring a friend: Want to play together? Find a team with more than one spot open.
- Know the level: Only drop-in if you're comfortable with the league's competition level.
- Pro tips: Arrive early and download the Volo mobile app to chat with your team.

Sport Overview
Basketball (5v5)
- Team Roster Minimum: 10
- 3 players minimum to start an official game
- 5 player max on the court (4 men max for coed leagues)
- 20 minutes per half
- 1 timeout per half (does not carry over)
- Default to NCAA Rules unless specified in Volosports Rules

Policies
Playoffs: Top 4 teams are guaranteed to make the playoffs. Additional teams may be added if schedules / venue space allow. Generally about 50% of teams qualify for playoffs
Weather Policy: Cancelled games due to bad weather will not be made up or will potentially be moved to a different gymnasium.
Schedule: Depending on the number of teams it's possible for teams to have byes or doubleheaders. It's also possible that the league is shortened or extended by a week. All teams are guaranteed 5 regular season games.
Alcohol Policy: Players are prohibited from bringing any outside alcohol to any sponsor bars/ location and is not allowed at the field.
Shirts:
Volo SJ is piloting a new shirt distribution process for our leagues to make Week 1 smoother. Prepaid teams must have all players registered and added to their roster by September 3rd. This ensures required waivers are completed and helps us prepare the most accurate shirt count and size mix for each team. Players added after the deadline will still receive a shirt, but available sizes, styles, and colors may vary.
