What’s a drop-in?

Drop-ins play on a league team for a single game. All the fun, no season-long commitment.

Playing time: Plan on about half the game, though it can vary.
Bring a friend: Want to play together? Find a team with more than one spot open.
Know the level: Only drop-in if you're comfortable with the league's competition level.

Do you like volleyball and new friends? Then this league is for you! Join our 6v6 Coed Recreational Grass Volleyball league at Herbert Hoover Middle every Thursday to play grass volleyball. This league is for our beginner Volleyball players.


Volleyball (6v6)

  • Full Team Roster Minimum: 10*
  • Games will be played with rally scoring, best of 3 (21-21-15) No win by 2
  • Minimum to start a game: 3
  • Guaranteed 6 Regular season games plus playoffs
  • 45 minute games
  • Top 4 teams are guaranteed to make the playoffs. Will take more teams for playoffs if there is room.

  • No gender rule for hits per side


Playoffs: We will accommodate as many teams as possible in the playoffs, but only the TOP 4 teams are guaranteed advancement.


Weather Policy: Cancelled games due to bad weather will not be made up or will potentially be moved indoors into a gymnasium.


Schedule: Depending on the number of teams it’s possible for teams to have byes or doubleheaders. It’s also possible that the league is shortened or extended by a week. All teams are guaranteed 5 regular season games.


Alcohol Policy: Players are prohibited from bringing any outside alcohol to any sponsor bars/ location and is not allowed at the field.


*Registered Groups who are not pre-paid teams and do not meet the minimum roster requirement by the registration deadline may be merged with other small groups, or have free agents added to their roster to meet the roster requirement.


Shirts: 

Volo SJ is piloting a new shirt distribution process for our leagues to make Week 1 smoother. Prepaid teams must have all players registered and added to their roster by September 3rd. This ensures required waivers are completed and helps us prepare the most accurate shirt count and size mix for each team. Players added after the deadline will still receive a shirt, but available sizes, styles, and colors may vary.
