Is best for high-level players chasing the most serious soccer Volo offers.
Competitive soccer is where the level jumps. Built for former college, semi-pro, and elite club players. Fast, tactical, physical games with strong officiating and teams that take the sport seriously. The highest level of adult soccer in your city outside of a semi-pro setup. You'll fit in if you played at college, semi-pro, or elite club level, want fast-paced, tactical, high-quality soccer, expect teammates who take the game seriously.
Intermediate
Is best for experienced players who want a real game without the cutthroat intensity.
Intermediate soccer is the sweet spot for most Volo players. You know the rules, you can hold your own, and you want a game where the score matters. Cleaner play, sharper officiating, and teammates who understand positioning and team play. You'll fit in if you played in high school, college, or club, understand basic positioning and team play, and want competitive games with real stakes.
Recreational / Social
Is best for Beginners, returning players, and anyone here for the social side.
Volo's recreational soccer leagues are the most beginner-friendly format we offer. Casual coed play, mixed skill levels, relaxed officiating, and a focus on fun over final score. Most solo signups land here, and most stay for the post-game hangout. You'll fit in if you are new to soccer or haven't played in years, Want a casual coed league, or you are signing up solo to meet people.

Your Questions, Answered
When signing up your soccer team, be aware that each team can have a maximum of 7 players on the field at a time and 2 of them must be female. To start a game, you must have a minimum of 4 players and one of those players must be female.
You can expect your Volo Soccer league to be anywhere from $59-$104 per player for the entire season. Registration fees are dependent on location and day of the week, so be sure to check the league details carefully. After you sign up, everything else is taken care of for you. Your registration includes league shirt, referees, venue costs, insurance, player perks, equipment, prizes, league management, and more. Don’t forget, when you sign up with Volo, your league registration helps provide free youth sports programs in Baltimore through the Volo Kids Foundation. #playitforward
All Volo soccer teams are required to have a minimum of 12 players for outdoor and 10 players for indoor and futsal. If you and your crew don’t have a full roster, we’ll merge you with another small group. FYI – merged teams generally have extra players to protect against forfeits. If you’d like to make sure you have a larger or smaller team, you can register as a prepaid team which allows you to determine the number of players on your team.
Volo soccer leagues are all about being social while burning up a sweat! We welcome all skill levels, but we do offer premier soccer leagues for our top competitors. We also offer a variety of levels of play within our soccer leagues, and we offer multiple divisions when we can. Our A Division is slightly more competitive, B Division for our more casual competitors, and C Division is for those looking to get back into the swing of things. Please check each league for specific information or shoot us an email if you have questions!
In adult soccer leagues with Volo Sports, a yellow card is used as a warning for misconduct, while a red card results in ejection from the match.
In Volo Sports soccer, the soccer game resumes immediately after the penalty kick is taken, and the ball moves.
