Your Questions, Answered
All Volo softball teams are required to have a minimum of 15 players. If you and your crew don’t have a full roster, we’ll merge you with another small group. FYI – merged teams generally have extra players to protect against forfeits. If you’d like to make sure you have a larger or smaller team, you can register as a Volo prepaid team which allows you to determine the number of players on your team.
We’re all about being social here at Volo! While we offer some competitive softball leagues, those are specifically labeled as such and everything else is all about being social.
All equipment for Volo softball leagues are provided except for mitts. Players will need to bring their own mitts.
Yes, every Volo softball league has an umpire. However there are no outfield umpires.
Signing up for a Volo league as a free agent or small group is one of the best ways to meet new people in San Francisco. Volo will place free agents and small groups on a team that needs additional players.
To join a Volo league with friends, one person should register as a "Start a Small Group." After registering, they'll receive a personalized invite link to share with friends. Anyone who registers using that link will be placed on the same team. If you and your friends have already registered separately as free agents, email [email protected] and we'll do our best to place you on the same Volo team.
To help prevent forfeits, teams that do not have enough players to meet the league's minimum roster requirements should open drop-in spots through the Volo app. Opening a drop-in spot allows another Volo player to join your team as a substitute for that night's games only. If your team needs a female player to meet coed roster requirements, captains can create a women-only drop-in spot to ensure the team remains eligible to play. Reminder: Drop-in players are only permitted during the regular season and are not allowed during playoffs
