Similar to playing pick-up in the backyard with some friends, coed lacrosse is played on a shorter field, requires less protective equipment, has less contact, and has less stoppage in play. 7v7 Coed Rules Overview Each half begins with a faceoff/draw. After goals, the defensive team clears the ball. Restraining line is at midfield. Max 5 players can be over the restraining line at one time. (2 attackers, 2 defenders, 3 midfielders). 3-Pass Rule: Three passes must be attempted in the offensive zone before a goal can be scored. No excessive contact - no slashing, cross checks, body checks, dangerous follow-throughs, etc. Checks must be made to the stick head only and from behind. No raking or covering ground balls. 3-Second Rule: Defenders may not guard within 8 meters of the goal unless within stick’s length and actively marking an attacker.
